Iran tests new drone bomber
Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN – Iran unveiled its new unmanned bomber, called the Karar, on Sunday during a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The long-range Karar drone bomber, which was also tested after the unveiling, can fly at high speed and has a range of up to 1,000 kilometers.

The aircraft is able to carry and fire four radar-evading cruise missiles or, depending on the mission, it can carry two 115-kilo bombs or one 227-kilo missile.

Ahmadinejad said, “This aircraft, before it heralds death for humanity’s enemies, is the messenger of dignity and salvation for humanity, and its main message is peace, friendship, and the prevention of any conflict and aggression.”

“The main message of our defense achievements is to deter any type of confrontation,” he added.

Iran should attempt to acquire the ability to carry out defensive strikes against a perceived threat, although the Islamic Republic will never conduct a first strike, he stated.

“If there is an ignorant person… a tyrant who just wants to carry out aggression, then our Defense Ministry should reach the point where it can cut off the hand of the aggressor before he decides to carry out an aggressive act,” he stated.

He added, “We should reach a point where Iran would serve as a defense umbrella for all freedom-loving nations against global aggressors.

“We don’t want to attack any place. Iran will never decide to attack any place, but our revolution cannot sit idly by in the face of tyranny. We cannot remain indifferent.
